About Me
Hi there, my name is Alan O’Sullivan. I have just completed a BSc in Digital Media Design at the University of Limerick. Throughout my time in university I have attained key skills in many areas including - Research and Design, Web Design/Development, Mobile Application Design/Development, Usability Testing, Prototyping, Graphic Design, User-Centered Design and Interaction Design. I also have skills working with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, WordPress, Axure and the Android SDK
After completing the Digital Media Design course I feel I have a degree level competence in new media technologies along with a strong understanding in the area of interaction design. In the future I hope to make a significant contribution to the continuing development and growth of the Digital Media industry.
In June of 2011 I began a 6 month internship with Barrowvale Technology ltd, an Irish web development company. I did a variety of work for Barrowvale Technology and for a website they managed called tradesmen.ie. Some of my duties included, Research, Usability Testing, Interaction Design, Graphic Design and Social Media Account Management.
In June of 2012 I began work with Sumato Campus as a Junior Front-End Developer. I worked on a variety of web development projects mainly using HTML5 and CSS3, I was also in charge of the Design and implementation of user experience, in online virtual events created by the company.
For my final year project I designed a treasure hunt Android mobile application. The mobile application was designed for the Hunt Museum in Limerick City. The project required building the mobile application on a framework so that the treasure hunt content within the application could be quickly and easily updated by a computer user with no programming knowledge. The application was designed using a user-centered design approach involving various different stages including, observations, prototyping and evaluations.
Please feel free to browse through my portfolio that displays just some of the projects I have worked on since joining the Digital Media Design course in 2009.
